Obverse description Square klippe field bearing the abbreviated provincial name GELRIA arranged in two horizontal lines across the center, with the date 1646 inscribed below in the field. At the top of the design, flanked by two pellets, appears the lily privy mark of the Harderwijk mint. The lettering is bold and deeply struck in the hammered style typical of Dutch provincial coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. A raised inner circle frames the central inscription, while the square klippe format features serrated edges on two opposing sides.
