Additional information

The klippe format here is almost certainly emergency or presentation issue — square-cut planchets appear in the Dutch provinces most often during siege conditions or at moments when round blanks were unavailable, though by 1678 West Friesland's use of the form was as likely ceremonial as practical. Dirck Bosch served as mintmaster at the Hoorn mint, and pieces bearing his personal mintmark carry direct accountability to his tenure, making attribution unusually clean for a provincial issue.

HPM Wf91.1 is a rare catalogued type. At 1.5g, the coin sits at the low end of viable silver striking weights.
