Reverse description The reverse presents the quartered coat of arms of Gelderland, depicting two rampant lions in a divided shield, surmounted by a large princely crown with prominent arches and orb. The denomination numeral '2' appears to the left of the shield and the initial 'S' (for Stuivers) to the right, flanking the central armorial device. The shield and crown are rendered in a bold, relatively flat relief consistent with late eighteenth-century Dutch provincial minting practice. The rim shows traces of a fine toothed border.
