| Obverse description | Right-facing draped and armored bust of King Frederik III, crowned with an elaborate open royal crown, his long curled hair flowing over his shoulders in the Baroque style fashionable at the time. The king wears plate armor with an ornate lace collar visible beneath the gorget. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait, with the Latin royal titulature arranged as a continuous legend around the periphery of the field. |

| Reverse description | Elaborate crowned royal arms of Denmark at center, comprising a quartered shield with the three lions and hearts of Denmark, flanked by eight surrounding subsidiary escutcheons representing the various territories of the Danish crown, all arranged in a radial pattern around the central achievement. The composition is surmounted by a royal crown with cross finial. The mintmaster's initials HK and the date 16|61 appear divided within the legend, and a small elephant device — emblem of the Order of the Elephant — is visible at the base of the design. The Latin motto legend encircles the entire reverse within a beaded border. |
