| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of Philip IV facing right, wearing a simple ruff collar, with the regnal date divided by the mint mark appearing at the top of the field. The effigy is rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of Spanish Netherlands coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, identifying the king as ruler of Spain and the Indies.
