Obverse description The fifth and final definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as modelled by Jody Clark, occupies the centre of the obverse field, depicting the monarch as a right-facing mature bust wearing the George IV State Diadem, adorned with floral and foliate motifs, and a drop earring. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the hair and crown elements. The circumferential Latin legend reads ELIZABETH II · DEI · GRA · REGINA · FID · DEF ·, disposed in an unbroken arc around the periphery of the coin. The engraver's initials J.C appear discreetly below the truncation of the bust. The coin is struck in 22-carat gold with a polished finish characteristic of bullion and proof sovereign issues.
