Reverse description The classic St. George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci, first introduced on the sovereign in 1817, occupies the central field. St. George is depicted as a muscular, helmeted warrior on horseback, his cloak billowing behind him as he drives a broken lance downward into a writhing dragon beneath the horse's hooves. The composition is dynamic and highly sculptural, with the dragon shown in its death throes below the rearing horse. The date 2026 appears in the exergue in large Roman-style numerals, with the engraver's initials B.P. to the right. The motto of the Order of the Garter, HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE, is repeated continuously around the full circumference of the coin in small incuse lettering, separated by raised dot stops.
