| Obverse description | Central field depicts a stylized tower or castle, the heraldic emblem of Tournai, rendered in a crude, emergency-issue style consistent with siege coinage. The denomination numeral '2' appears to the upper left of the tower, while the legend TORNACO.OBSESSO is arranged around the central device within a beaded or rope-bordered circle. The date 1709 is placed below the tower. The entire design is struck on an irregular flan with uneven surfaces, characteristic of wartime emergency issues produced under the siege conditions of the War of the Spanish Succession. |
