Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of King Christian III, crowned and clad in full plate armor, holding a sword in his right hand and a scepter in his left. The royal figure stands partially within an inner circle, with the Latin legend disposed around the outer rim. The crude hammered style is typical of early sixteenth-century Danish coinage, with broad flat fields and bold if somewhat irregular lettering.
