Obverse description Crowned quartered shield of arms of the Bishopric of Münster, displaying the characteristic Münster cross and other heraldic charges, with the mintmaster's initials HL flanking the lower portion of the shield and the denomination numeral 14 at the base. The episcopal arms are rendered in the baroque heraldic style typical of late 17th-century German ecclesiastical coinage. A circular legend surrounds the shield reading FRIDER CHRIS D G EP MONAS, abbreviated for Friedrich Christian by the grace of God Bishop of Münster.
