Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the Pomeranian griffin rampant to left, crowned, holding an upright sword in its right talon. The heraldic beast is rendered in a robust late-Renaissance style characteristic of early 17th-century German hammered coinage. A Latin legend surrounds the central device between the inner circle and the coin's rim, identifying the issuing duke.
