Obverse description Centrally placed eight-fold quartered shield of arms with an inescutcheon bearing the arms of Ratzeburg, surmounted by three ornate crested helmets with mantling. The heraldic display occupies the central field, with the abbreviated legend arranged around the periphery within a beaded border.

Reverse description Large interlaced monogram of the letters D and S occupying the central field, rendered in an elaborate Renaissance style with foliate or serpentine interlacing. A small orb or globus cruciger appears above the monogram. The peripheral legend, separated by dots, names the issuing duke with the date 1617 integrated into the legend, all contained within a beaded border.
