Obverse description At center, the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, depicted in high relief with three lions visible atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra (wheel) flanked by a bull and horse in low relief. Immediately below the capital, the Devanagari inscription 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') curves across the lower central field. The denomination numeral '2' appears prominently in the lower field. Surrounding legends in Devanagari read 'भारत' and 'रूपये' to the left, with 'INDIA' and 'RUPEES' in Latin script to the right, following the contour of the eleven-sided flan.
