| Obverse description | The Ashoka Lion Capital emblem of India occupies the central field, depicting three lions sejant on an abacus adorned with a wheel (dharma chakra) and other animals in relief. Beneath the capital, the national motto सत्यमेव जयते (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') is inscribed in Devanagari script. The country name appears in Devanagari (भारत) to the left and in Latin script (INDIA) to the right along the upper periphery.
