Obverse description Intaglio-printed engraved portrait of King George V set within an octagonal panel at the upper left, with the denomination "Rupees 2/8" appearing at the upper right and lower left corners. The central field carries the bearer promise text over a bluish-green guilloche rosette underprint, with note serial numbers flanking the value at the upper right and lower left. The note is signed by M.M.S. Gubbay, whose tenure ran from July 1916 to May 1920.

Reverse description The denomination "Rs. 2/8" appears within an ornamental circle at the upper right, while a stylised G.R.I. (Georgius Rex Imperator) monogram occupies the upper left. A multi-language panel is centred on the note, and security is provided by a watermark incorporating a star enclosed within a rectangle, with "G.R.I." above and wavy lines below.
