| Reverse description | The reverse features a right-facing bust of Soviet aviator Valery Pavlovich Chkalov in three-quarter view, wearing a leather flight helmet and aviator gear, rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field. To the left of the portrait, a stylised globe with meridian and parallel lines is depicted, overlaid with a bold flight route line and a small aircraft in profile, evoking Chkalov's legendary 1937 transpolar flight. The inscription США ВАНКУВЕР appears at the upper left above the globe, and МОСКВА СССР is inscribed at the lower left, denoting the departure and destination cities of the historic flight. The dates 1904 and 1938 — marking Chkalov's birth and death years — are inscribed in two lines to the upper right of the portrait.
