Obverse description The double-headed eagle in the style of I. Bilibin occupies the central field, serving as the state emblem of the Russian Federation. Below the eagle, engraved indicators denote the metal designation, fineness, mint mark, and fine metal content. The upper rim legend reads «ДВА РУБЛЯ 1994 г.» (TWO ROUBLES 1994), while the lower rim legend reads «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA). The design is executed in a decorative folk-art inspired style characteristic of Bilibin's graphic tradition.
