Mir Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000, was built in the early 16th century under the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and passed through several owners before being extensively damaged during Napoleon's 1812 campaign. Reconstruction took decades. The National Bank of Belarus has issued a long-running circulation bimetallic series featuring architectural monuments of the country, and Mir Castle is among its most recognizable entries.
