Obverse lettering REPUB. DE CENT. DE AMER. 1846
(Translation: Central American Republic 1846)
Reverse description Applied counterstamp within a beaded circle depicting a tree, the central motif dividing the denomination numeral and its abbreviation. An outer circular legend surrounds the device identifying the authorizing jurisdiction and the responsible official. The stamp bears the initials J.B. attributed to mint official Juan Barth, with the denomination expressed as 2 R, all consistent with Costa Rican habilitada emergency counterstamp practice of the 1840s.
