| Obverse description | An eight-pointed star occupies the center of the field, rendered in bold relief with pointed rays radiating symmetrically outward. A circular legend reading ESTADO TACHIRA arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1872 appears prominently at the bottom of the coin. The design is enclosed within a milled border, giving the piece a distinctly provincial and utilitarian character consistent with Venezuelan state coinage of the period. |

The Estado Táchira 2 Reales of 1872 is one of the more obscure emergency issues from Venezuela's fractured federal period, produced locally in the Táchira region when central coinage supply was effectively nonexistent in the western provinces. Táchira, isolated by the Andes from Caracas, operated with considerable administrative autonomy during this period and occasionally issued its own money to fill the vacuum.
Bronze was a practical choice — it required less infrastructure than silver striking. The KM#S1 designation itself signals how far outside the national series this piece sits.
