Additional information

Honduras issued several pattern pieces in the early 1870s as the government evaluated coinage options following Central American monetary reorganization. The copper-nickel composition of this 2 Reales pattern places it among a group of trial strikes almost certainly produced in anticipation of switching away from silver — a cost-driven consideration shared by numerous Latin American states during this period. KM#Pn11 is rarely encountered, and its appearance at auction is infrequent enough that auction records provide little comparative pricing data.
