Obverse description Insurgent countermark applied to the reverse of a host coin, displaying the crowned monogram 'M.d.S.' (Morelos de Sudamérica or attributed to insurgent commander Mariano de Salazar) surmounted by a stylized crown, all incused within a roughly rectangular punch mark struck into the otherwise plain field. The coin has been holed at the top, suggesting secondary use as a pendant or badge. The heavily worn and scratched silver surface retains the characteristic irregular milled edge of the host coin.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering M.d.S. S.C.M.
