Obverse description Central crowned quartered shield of Castile and León, displaying castles and lions in alternate quarters with a central escutcheon, surmounted by a royal crown. The mint mark (S) and assayer initial (P) flank the shield to either side. The circular legend reads PHILIPPVS · V · DEI · GRAT with the denomination numeral II visible in the field, all enclosed within a beaded inner border and a milled outer rim.

Reverse description A bold Latin cross with equal arms divides the field into four quadrants, each containing alternating castles and lions representing the kingdoms of Castile and León. The circular legend HISPANIARUM REX with the date 1704 runs along the periphery, separated by decorative stops. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a milled outer edge characteristic of early Bourbon milled coinage from the Seville mint.
