| Obverse description | Central device comprising the quartered royal arms of Spain within a shield, displaying castles of Castile and lions of León in the principal quarters, with the Bourbon fleur-de-lis escutcheon at fess point, surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The assayer initials MF appear to the left of the shield and the denomination numeral 2 to the right, both separated from the shield by small rosette stops. The circular legend reads PHILIP•V•D•G•HISPAN•ET IND•REX, rendered in bold Latin characters and punctuated by rosette stops, running around the entire periphery. The coin exhibits the characteristic pillar-and-globe type milled coinage design introduced at Mexico City in 1732, with a finely reeded border. |

| Reverse description | Central design featuring two crowned Pillars of Hercules, the classical columns representing the Strait of Gibraltar, each entwined by a ribbon scroll bearing the motto PLUS and VLTRA respectively, flanking a crowned terrestrial globe depicted resting upon stylized waves. The mint mark Mo appears to the left and right of the central device at mid-field. The circular legend VTRAQUE VNUM arcs across the upper portion of the coin, while the date 1737 is prominently placed in the lower field between two rosette stops. The overall composition symbolizes the Spanish monarchy's dominion over both the Old and New Worlds. |
