| Obverse description | A bold central cross of colonial Spanish cob style divides the field into four quarters, each containing a heraldic device imitating the castles and lions of the Spanish royal arms. The letters M and I appear flanking the cross horizontally in the left and right fields respectively, while the denomination numeral 2 is visible in the lower field below the cross. A beaded or dotted inner border runs around the periphery of the irregular flan. The design is a crude but deliberate imitation of colonial macuquina coinage, hand-struck on an irregularly shaped billon planchet consistent with emergency wartime production. |
