Reverse description Central crowned quartered shield of the Spanish royal arms, displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in the quarters, with a central escutcheon, flanked on either side by the crowned Pillars of Hercules with banners inscribed PLUS VLTRA. The denomination mark 2R and assayer initials DA appear to the left of the left pillar, with the mint mark So to the lower left. The peripheral legend HISPAN ET IND REX reads around the upper arc, completing the royal titulature of Charles IV as King of the Spains and the Indies.
