Obverse description Draped bust of King Carlos IV facing right, with queue tied by a ribbon, rendered in the neoclassical style engraved by Pedro González de Sepúlveda. The effigy displays the king in civilian dress with a lace jabot visible at the chest. The circular legend CAROLUS IIII·DEI·G· runs around the periphery, with the date 1801 positioned in the lower exergual area. The field is plain and the coin exhibits a toothed or beaded border around the entire obverse.
