Obverse description Crowned Spanish royal coat of arms displayed at center, the quartered shield surmounted by a royal crown. The denomination numerals and value indicator flank the shield to either side within the field. A circular legend surrounds the central device, with all elements contained within a beaded border. The design follows the standard colonial heraldic convention employed in Spanish Philippine coinage of the early nineteenth century.
