Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra (imperial monogram) of Sultan Mehmed V, rendered in fine calligraphic style with characteristic lam-elif strokes and ornamental loops rising above the baseline. The tughra is flanked on either side by symmetrical floral and foliate sprays in low relief. A decorative beaded border encircles the entire design, framing the imperial cipher within a tightly composed, formal arrangement typical of late Ottoman coinage struck for Egypt.
