Obverse description Central field dominated by a large square cartouche containing a multi-line Persian inscription in elegant Nasta'liq calligraphy, recording the royal epithet, the name of the ruler Mohammad Shah Qajar, the mint name Dar al-Khilafa Tehran, and the AH date 1263. The cartouche is enclosed within a double-lined square frame adorned at each corner with ornamental flourishes. Surrounding the cartouche, stylized arabesques and floral scrollwork fill the inner field, while the coin's border is defined by a continuous row of beaded dentils.
