| Additional information |
Issued to mark the Queen Mother's 90th birthday in 1990, this was one of dozens of commemorative two-pound pieces produced by British Crown Dependencies during the late 1980s and 1990s — a period when Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man competed aggressively for the collector market with high-volume commemorative programs. The Queen Mother remained one of the most commercially reliable subjects in that trade.
KM#53 was struck in copper-nickel rather than the silver variants issued concurrently, keeping it firmly in the souvenir tier.
