| Reverse description | The copper-nickel centre depicts Hercules wrestling the Nemean Lion, shown in dynamic profile: the muscular, nude hero straddles the great lion from behind, grappling it in a powerful chokehold. Two Corinthian-style columns flank the central scene, and a decorative Greek meander frieze runs along the base. The inscription THE NEMEAN LION appears in the left field of the inner disc, and the mint master mark AA is visible below the central design. The outer nickel brass ring carries the arc legend THE LABOURS OF HERCULES at the top and the denomination 2 POUNDS at the bottom, separated by raised beaded borders. |
