Reverse description Hercules, wearing a lion-skin headdress and carrying a quiver of arrows on his back, is depicted astride the Ceryneian Hind, a large antlered deer, both shown in vigorous motion to the left across the central copper-nickel field. An arrow lies on the ground beneath the scene, and a Greek meander (key) decorative band runs horizontally beneath the figures. The inscription 'THE CERYNEIAN HIND' appears in the lower central field, with the denomination numeral '2' below the meander band. The outer nickel-brass ring bears the legend 'THE LABOURS OF HERCULES' arcing around the upper field and 'POUNDS' along the lower arc, with the Pobjoy Mint mark 'PM' at the lower left of the ring.
