Reverse description The reverse, designed and engraved by John Bergdahl, depicts a jester's cap and bells alongside a marotte (jester's stick), both rendered in high sculptural relief as an allusion to Shakespearean comedy. The cap is shown with multiple bell-tipped points and a small jester's face at its base, while the marotte curves dynamically across the field. The inscription WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE arcs around the upper periphery, flanked by decorative floral sprigs, with the date 2016 displayed prominently at the base, and the engraver's initials JB incused in the lower field.
