Issued to mark the July 1981 marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, this Jersey piece was part of a wave of commemoratives produced across British Crown Dependencies and Commonwealth territories that year. Jersey had limited its commemorative output through most of the 1970s, making this among the more actively distributed pieces from the period.
KM#52 shares its specifications with the concurrent crown-sized issues from Gibraltar and Isle of Man, all struck by the same contracted minting arrangements common to smaller dependencies lacking their own facilities.
