| Additional information |
Alderney sits five miles off the Normandy coast and was the only part of the British Isles to suffer a full German occupation during World War II — its civilian population was evacuated in June 1940, and the island was subsequently used as a forced labour site. That history gives Remembrance issues from this jurisdiction a geographical weight that similar coins from the mainland Royal Mint cannot claim.
