Obverse description Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered in the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait as used on Commonwealth coinage from 1998. The Queen wears a tiara and a draped neckline. The circumferential legend reads 'SOUTH GEORGIA & SOUTH SANDWICH ISLANDS 2007' around the upper field, with the engraver's initials 'IRB' present below the truncation. The coin is struck in proof quality with a deeply mirrored field.
