Additional information

Issued to mark the 60th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 2007, this was one of dozens of commemorative bimetallic pieces Gibraltar produced throughout the 2000s under licensing arrangements that allowed the territory to issue coins with limited circulation function. Philip and Elizabeth married on 20 November 1947 at Westminster Abbey — the first major royal public event following the austerities of wartime, broadcast on BBC radio to an estimated 200 million listeners worldwide.
