Reverse description The reverse of this commemorative issue celebrates the 260th anniversary of the founding of Wedgwood, the celebrated British pottery firm established by Josiah Wedgwood in 1759. The central copper-nickel field depicts a finely rendered neoclassical amphora-style vase with twin handles, its body decorated in relief with a scene of classical figures — including a standing male, a kneeling male figure, a flying putto, and a second standing male — rendered in the distinctive Wedgwood jasperware style. Flanking the vase on the outer nickel brass ring are two symmetrical sprays of berried foliage. The legend WEDGWOOD appears in the upper arc of the ring, and the commemorative dates 1759 - 2019 are inscribed along the lower arc.
