| Obverse description | The fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, occupies the copper-nickel inner disc, depicting the crowned and draped right-facing bust of the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem and a drop earring. The engraver's initials J.C appear below the truncation of the neck. The surrounding nickel-brass outer ring carries the Latin legend ELIZABETH II · DEI · GRA · REG · FID · DEF · 2018 · distributed around the full circumference, with individual words separated by raised dots. |

The coin marks the centenary of the Armistice signed at 11:00 on 11 November 1918 in a railway carriage in the Forest of Compiègne — a ceasefire that ended fighting on the Western Front after four years and cost the British Empire alone over 900,000 dead. Parliament had already been planning centenary commemorations from as early as 2014, the hundred-year anniversary of the outbreak, making this the closing piece of a four-year Royal Mint program. Jody Clark's fifth portrait of Elizabeth II, introduced in 2015, appears here in its relatively early years of use.
