(Translation: Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith)
Reverse description The copper-nickel centre field depicts a stylised twelve-button telephone keypad, with each raised circular button bearing a digit (0–9) alongside the asterisk and hash symbols in the bottom row. The word TELEPHONE is ingeniously split across the keypad buttons in the manner of a traditional telephone layout, with the letters PI, ON, EER, OF, THE, TEL, EPH, ONE distributed above the corresponding digits 1 through 9. The bottom-row buttons bear the asterisk symbol above the date 1847 (Bell's birth year), the digit 0, and the hash symbol above the date 1922 (centenary of Bell's death), respectively. The legend ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL arcs around the outer nickel brass ring, with the designer's initials HDG incuse at the base of the centre disc.
