Reverse description Standing, helmeted figure of Britannia depicted in a dynamic composition riding a horse-drawn chariot, holding the reins in one hand and a trident in the other, evoking classical Roman iconography. The design, engraved by Philip Nathan, conveys strength and maritime dominance. The inscription 'BRITANNIA' appears prominently, flanked by the denomination and date within the surrounding legend. Pellet separators divide the words of the bullion purity inscription around the periphery of the field. The engraver's initials 'PN' are incorporated into the design.
