| Obverse description | Fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, depicting a crowned and draped bust wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, as modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley. The sovereign's name and issuer appear in a continuous legend around the periphery. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a smooth field, with fine detail in the crown and drapery consistent with Rank-Broadley's style adopted from 1998. |

| Additional information |
Thorwald's Cross is a tenth-century Norse-Manx memorial slab found at Kirk Andreas, notable for its depiction of a scene widely interpreted as Ragnarök — making it one of the rare pre-Christian mythological images surviving in Manx stone carving. The Isle of Man's habit of cycling through commemorative circulation coinage meant this cross received a regular-issue slot rather than a one-off commemorative, which is unusual for subject matter this specific.
Two Schön varieties exist within the date span, reflecting a mid-run change in the ring alloy specification.
