Obverse description The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupies the centre of the obverse as a right-facing crowned bust with elaborately sculpted hair and a jewelled diadem. The portrait is rendered with fine sculptural detail, the engraver's initials 'IRB' appearing discreetly below the truncation of the neck. The circumferential legend reads 'ELIZABETH II D G REG FID DEF' in raised Latin lettering along the upper arc, with the denomination '2 POUNDS' inscribed along the lower arc. A beaded border frames the entire design, lending a classical finish consistent with Royal Mint bullion coinage of the period.
