| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Edward VII, rendered in high relief with finely detailed beard and hair, after the design by George William de Saulles whose engraver's initials 'D.S.' appear below the truncation. The king is depicted with a mature, dignified portrait in the classical tradition. The circumferential Latin legend reads EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP:, separated by decorative stops, running around the full border of the coin within a beaded rim. |

| Reverse description | The celebrated Pistrucci design of Saint George, helmeted and armoured, mounted on a rearing horse and slaying the dragon with a broken lance, the dragon writhing beneath the horse's hooves. The composition is rendered with exceptional sculptural vitality characteristic of Benedetto Pistrucci's original masterwork. The date 1902 appears in the lower exergue, flanked by the Sydney mint mark 'S' to the left and Pistrucci's initials 'B.P.' to the right. The design is contained within a plain inner border with a milled outer rim. |
