Joey Dunlop won the Tourist Trophy a record 26 times before his death in a road race in Tallinn, Estonia in July 2000. He is buried in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, but the Isle of Man claimed him as its own — he spent so much of each year on the island preparing for and running the TT that locals treated him as a resident. The Manx government honoured him with a statue in Ramsey long before this coin was issued.
