Part of the Royal Mint's ongoing Star Wars licensing series, this piece falls within a wave of issues timed to coincide with the franchise's 2023 commemorative calendar. The Royal Mint has held licensing agreements with Disney — which acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4.05 billion — for a range of pop-culture bullion and proof issues that have expanded aggressively since the mid-2010s.
