The Red Arrows — formally No. 1 Aerobatic Display Team of the Royal Air Force — were formed in 1965 at RAF Fairford, inheriting a tradition of RAF display flying that stretched back to the Hendon air pageants of the 1920s. Jersey's 2019 issue coincided with the team's 55th display season. The Channel Islands have issued an extraordinary volume of commemorative bimetallics over the past three decades, and this piece sits in that broader programme of Crown Dependency issues that circulate legally but are rarely encountered in everyday commerce.
