The "Ang Bagong Lipunan" inscription — meaning "The New Society" — was Marcos's ideological branding of the martial law order he declared in September 1972, and its appearance on circulating currency was a deliberate act of political normalization. Bangko Sentral notes bearing that legend were introduced across multiple denominations beginning in 1973, replacing the earlier Pilipino series. Thomas De La Rue handled the printing throughout, as they had for previous Philippine issues.
Seal type 2 distinguishes this note from the earlier Seal type 1 variant within the same series run — the difference lies in the rendition of the Bangko Sentral seal printed on the note, a detail that matters considerably for completeness in a Bagong Lipunan type set.
