| Obverse description | Central device consists of a large heart-shaped cartouche formed by two intersecting diagonal lines, surmounted by a cross pattée at the apex. Within the heart, the initials 'E I C' (East India Company) are arranged in the field in three positions. The date 1794 appears in the lower exergue below the heart device. The design is rendered in a bold, deeply struck style characteristic of Soho Mint production. |
